Call Completion Suite for a Leading Telco

Overview

  

A leading telecommunications provider, with extensive operations in over 20 countries and partnerships in an additional 40, serves millions of mobile and fixed broadband customers. To enhance service delivery and improve operational efficiency, the provider initiated a large-scale project to consolidate its call-related applications into a unified call completion suite (CMS).

Project Overview

  

Specializing in value-added services (VAS) solutions to deliver a comprehensive, consolidated call completion suite. This suite included services such as voice mail, mobile collect call, missed call notifications, reachability notifications, and several other sub-services. The implementation aimed to streamline and modernize legacy systems, bringing a wide array of call-related services under one platform.

Business Challenges

  

This project was one of the most extensive deployments undertaken by the vendor, with a 24 million subscriber base spanning two geographically separate locations. Major challenges included:

  • Integration with Third-Party Systems:      Integrating with a third-party service subscription/bus system required      novel interface implementations, extensive customization, and rigorous      testing.
  • High Capacity Requirements: The      solution required a significant capacity with 4,500 SIP ports on each site      to handle the volume of calls.
  • Data Migration: Subscription data      from previous systems needed to be transferred seamlessly to the new      platform with zero service interruptions, which required precise planning      and execution.

Approach

  

  • Zapplu’s deployment and migration strategy followed a structured four-phase approach to ensure a seamless transition and efficient service launch.
  • 1. Design & Planning
  • Collaborated with the provider’s architecture team to define functionalities and integration points.
  • Followed an agile methodology, continuously refining the design to adapt to evolving project needs.
  • 2. Site-by-Site Deployment
  • Launched the solution on a primary site, completing all integrations and testing.
  • A faster secondary site rollout leveraged insights from the initial deployment, ensuring efficiency.
  • 3. Seamless Data Migration
  • Extracted and migrated data from legacy systems to the new consolidated platform without service disruptions.
  •  4. Scalable Service Launch
  • Integrated call completion applications to function as a unified system, enabling a smooth, simultaneous service launch.

Business Impact

  

The project was completed within six months, and the telecommunications provider successfully launched the call completion suite as scheduled. Since the platform's launch, ongoing enhancements have been implemented, boosting performance and increasing call completion rates.

Conclusion

  This project enabled the vendor to become an approved supplier for the telecommunications provider, joining the provider’s global supplier list. The successful deployment has set a foundation for delivering voice and messaging applications across the provider's affiliates globally, meeting the objectives of increased efficiency, flexibility, and reduced costs through VAS consolidation technology.
